“Cerebral Conception is when the mind gets impregnated with great thoughts and exploits” – Lesego Montsho-
Secular music means Non-spiritual music. And the difference between a secular song and a Christian song is that, “in a Christian song the spirit of the song is word driven whereas in a secular song the spirit of a song is beat driven.”
Has secular music ever made you feel like you are an Enemy of God?
As for me in the beginning like most of my juvenile years I had no problems with secular music…I grew up listening to secular Hip-hop and Pop and I truly enjoyed it yet I was a Christian. Then came a time I started being a bit devoted as a Christian ,consequently by God’s disposition I interrelated with the Dynastik Equinox Team, And a Brother called Duncan enlightened us that secular music is not good at all, He made it clear that as Christians “everything that we do has to glorify God including the way we talk, the things we watch and listen to” I could not agree more and in my head I was assenting because eyes and ears are the windows of the soul, Whatever we feed our eyes and ears intensifies and later manifests in us, for instance songs that use too much curse words can result in one talking the same way compulsorily.
He went on to expound that as Christians we don’t have an excuse to listen to secular music for the reason that nowadays there are various Genres like hip-hop, Pop, Reggae etc. that glorifies God and I was unaware of it. With all that he said it was plentiful of a rebuke…Then and there I took my “Hello kitty galaxy” went to the library and deleted every single song that was secular. Mind you I was 18 so I pledged to quit listening to secular music completely. I began to hate secular music with all my heart that whenever I heard someone playing secular music or got in a place where they played secular songs I would leave that place right away. I continued that way until I became 20 (my age right now)
Conversely during all this time when I didn’t tolerate secular music I always saw Christian youth particularly the ones who are supposed to lead us being conformed to secularism in terms of music and movies they watched. It always got me thunderstruck! But it did not halt me from persisting the way I chose to do my thing; My Gadgets were only jam-packed with Christian music of various Genres. But I cannot deny that enticements were always there since at home they subscribed to Dstv compendium so at times while flicking through the stations I will come across songs in trace that I adored and those 808’s booming like nothing …Imagine sonJ. Same with YouTube it will recommend videos from secular artists I used to listen to. It was hard maan.
In my current age there was a day I asked myself if secular music is collectively wicked? A lot of things came to my mind….I discussed this whole issue in my common sense and I felt like I was trying to mislead myself into a snare. I couldn’t get proper answers… I asked myself the second question as to what exactly makes a song secular? Is it the lyrics or the artist or the genre? Can a person labelled “profane” glorify God through their music? Cant someone’s talent (vocal, playing instruments startlingly) just on its unadorned state epitomize God’s ingenuity as the Creator? Is it not in the bible that “Every good and perfect gift comes from above?”
My intention was not to play “The Devil’s Advocate” so I began to have understanding that God created music for a purpose ,secular artists and their talents are also part of God’s creation “Good Things” He called them to make music and sing for him. It’s only them that decided to abuse the Gift for personal gain and fame.
As much as we live in a secular world, not forgetting that our mission is not to conform to the standards used here. We should understand that even Jesus when he was on earth he did thirst and hunger for food, He could feel physical pain, and he expressed feelings of anger at times just like any other human being and these things have no spiritual basis.
There are secular songs which promote love, compassion, charity, and laughter with good morals just like the “NATIONAL ANTHEM” it can be sung even in churches, do we regard it a secular song? You can answer that. So some secular songs just like the national anthem can be accepted if we carefully listen to their lyrics and try to understand the intentions of the songwriter or the artist. Therefore the “LYRICS” of a song should be the determinant of whether a Christian should listen to a song or not. God can use anyone at any time; if we judge the songs by who sing them we are most likely to miss the message behind the song because we are too focused on inspecting the messenger.
In Philippians 4:8 the bible says “Finally Brothers, whatever that is noble, whatever that is true, whatever that is right, whatever that is pure, whatever that is lovely, whatever that is admirable, If anything is praiseworthy or excellent think about such things.
Now ask yourself then can secular music be true, noble, pure, right, lovely, praiseworthy and excellent? If so then there is nothing wrong with a Christian listening to a song that fits that description.
It’s a fact that majority of secular music does not meet the standards of (phil4:8) as it oppositely promote violence, immorality, and it depreciate integrity and purity most of the time. Nonetheless there are secular songs that do not mention God or the Bible verses yet they endorse godly ethics such as honesty, purity, integrity, compassion and love. Still as a Christian you should listen to music that draws you near to God most of the time, don’t use my post as a vindication to run away from God.

THE UNIVERSITY OF BOTSWANA STRIKE WAS GERMANE
Allow me to substitute the word “PROTEST” with the word “RIOT” even though I am very conscious there is a huge difference between the TWO. There are some circumstances capable of paralleling the variance between these two words to be the same. Matter of fact when a peaceful protest is unrewarding it is most likely to principal to a riot. Therefore a riot is simply a defecate of overlooked protest.
In most cases protests usually start off serenely and when there is no a sign of accomplishment or adequate response they can transmute into riots ending in looting. Riots in university campuses are not a new phenomenon especially where there is injustice but they are clearly swelling in prevalence and magnitude, law enforcements officials become involved to maintain order, sporadic disruptions begin to escalate and eventually violence and destructive behaviours are likely to supervene.
From the bantam experience of being a university student in Botswana I know how tertiary students in Botswana both self-sponsored and Government sponsored are taken for granted by the so called policy makers or the Government together with appropriate ministry, Let alone the ideas, the concerns and requests of students are never given first priority as projected. This is a sign that we have indiscreet leaders as a country! Who are just office-bearers without passion of serving mankind but rather filled with self-enrichment pursuits, Corruption, and incompetency. However we have few leaders who exercise positive influence, who are motivated by purpose, convictions, vision, amenity to mankind and the desire to facilitate the interests and visions of the people they serve and I cannot deny it’s a blessing.
When leaders fail to inspire and serve the people they end up using extortion and they tend to resort manipulation. Same applies to most leaders in our respective Government and its departments they do not portray any signs of leadership rather they act to the public as leaders when in actual fact they are just professional manipulators. They play on people’s fears; they use a carrot and stick approach on people, and threaten and coerce them. That is not leadership it is Masquerading Dictatorship.
Now looking at the Situation that’s at hand at the University of Botswana I am concerned because ive been through the same hell they are going through right now and it’s not any syrupy. I have been there! I know the pain of having to suffer the ineptitude of the university management, its interconnected departments and its supervision when you are just a helpless young person. The sad part about it is when the students party try to make efforts to raise their worries through diplomatic means like petitions the relevant people (management, ministry or anyone at the top) have a tendency to overlook the situation and take the grievances of students jokily. WHY? Is it because they don’t have kids studying in Botswana institutions or is it because they don’t have the heart of serving mankind?
Imagine the kids having to stay up to two months without any living allowance, Remember!!! Approximately 80% of these students come from bad-socio-economic backgrounds therefore this living allowance is their only hope, it’s their only source of income to assist them in meeting their day to day needs since the education system in Botswana does not allow part time occupation for university students. How do they hit the books on empty stomachs? How do they show up to classes and participate without security of meeting their rudimentary needs if the allowance to meet basic needs is not met? Think about it? It’s fracturing!
It’s more discreditable that when these helpless scholars seek noteworthy answers from the department accountable for crediting their allowance they get no response, No one communicates with them. What do we expect them to do? Because that is defilement of their rights! The only option they had was to respond to such violence with violence by means of rioting. They had to pursue social justice since everyone who could give them accurate answers appeared to be less bothered. I know the conduct of rioters is most likely to be excruciating especially the way it is embroidered by media coverage, it can cause turbulences to everyone else; it is exorbitant and unacceptable…however was it necessary to send cops and soldiers to whoop them? Instead of addressing or comforting them on their cry and we initiate a violent approach of sending cops to beat them? That’s foolishness; I repeat its foolishness with capital Letters FOOLISHNESS! You cannot put off fire with petrol.
With all that had transpired do we suppose the kids will execute well to their maximum in their examinations by the end of the semester after experiencing all those circumstances? At the end of the day will anyone mark their papers bearing in mind the situations they’re facing right now? NO ,no one will….And it’s too bad we have institutions that want to implement premier world criterions only on students side yet the same institutes fail to meet such standards on management level. Incompetent management in Institutions of higher learning similar to that revealed by UB management is forsaking the students of Botswana therefore a sharp eye must be kept on such.
I had to put pen to paper about all these because I have family and Friends who are studying in UB, I wrote this as a young person who knows the pain of being taken light-hearted when you seek answers, I wrote this as a visionary who can foretell the long term ramification of this kind of comportment portrayed by UB management together with, DTEF and the ministers of education. My request to our leaders Ministers of Education, And other administrators in relevant departments is that the youth (we) are the leaders and the future of tomorrow therefore if there is anything the youths are discontented about which makes learning unfavourable for them, their voices must be heard and re-joined with solutions. The modus operandi of referring soldiers and police officers when youth are on disapprovals with the government or the administration is not what we expect in a so called democratic country, it’s a reflection of Pusillanimity, lack of astuteness by leaders and it interferes with the people’s sovereignty of expression.
To conclude let me acclaim few leaders whom while the public tossed negative interpretations and shunned the UB students for the riot they embarked on; unlike the rest they instigated a better way of addressing the matter. The major of Gaborone City, The MP of Gaborone central Mr. Phenyo Butale and The president of the Opposition Mr Duma Boko and others…they exhibited first class benevolence which we expect from leaders and the world need more people like them. May God bless them!
Allow me to laugh a little Okay !Just a little .. Eheheheheh 😂😂😂. Who said it is a norm or it’s a Standard edict that when you are a Christian man you have to be recognised with a suit and tie? Who said if you don’t dress on a sparkly silk suit from Monday to Sunday you are not Godly? Who said you should always have those obstinate firm facial expressions all the time? Who said you must always be Ice cold to fit the “Holiness” label.
I respect people’s choices but for some reasons I sense that individuals are hoodwinked into believing that holiness is always attached to dress code or how often somebody wears a blazer and formal trousers. Which is moderately true, however I think that this “Formal attire” code can be monotonous if people overdo it. Principally the youth who instigate on embracing old appearance through non-stop formal costume.
I mean can you guy’s atleast wear cardigan shorts, T-shirts, and some sandals just once in a decade for God’s sake. Or something that will make people not to take you too serious for your age, something that will not fright people away mainly your age mates thinking that you are some kind of Government official, Attorney or something when you are actually a minor.
I summon up at fourteen when i was a Sceptic, Lil Wayne Fan, Thugette, profane, Defiant and too good for religious fervour. There was this other Boy at school who was in the same grade I was in, he happened to be a pastor. He conducted himself like a person who just advanced from University and already searching for occupation, I found him infuriating for this oldness aspect to an extent that whenever he greeted me formally I had to ignore him; I avoided conversing with him by all means for I felt I was too green to engross in dialogues with elders. I admit I was cold-blooded but the oldness look was equally blameable for thwarting him from charming souls to God.
Im very fond of Christian Boys who dress so immaculate in suits especially on Sundays at church or in distinct occasions but when it becomes a day to day routine even during outdoor activities it becomes a turn off, Ok! Just like a TV series or an advert that repeats every single day it gets tiresome.
It’s conventional to confuse the devil sometimes; it’s allowable to dress supremely! Try out something people don’t know you with! Just once in a while! Pull a snapback, Denims, youthful shirts, some branded sneakers and stylish eyewear! You will be surprised people will call your name from afar.
Stop listening to Phempherethe’s music 24/7, your mental power will deteriorate, Upgrade your playlist, Download Christian R&b, House and Hip-hop music, Dab to it, and Do those Doughies unapologetically 💃💃💃. Trust me even the witches who are holding your things will freedom you because of confusion!
Then the earnest expression you Boys of God make when you talk must stop, Learn to smile, Conquer the devil please! Smile atleast once in a week to match your age! Stop mimicking your pastor’s facial gestures, He has had more teething troubles and encounters in life than yourself that’s why he is like that, so stop photocopying his expressions. Be you!

Buying stuff online is one of the best feelings ever; you should try it out if you haven’t done it before. Believe me it’s awesome to shop online.
Here is why:
Shopping online allows you to get items 3 times cheaper than when you do shop directly at stores around your town or your village. Because when you shop directly it’s costly since you got to budget for the transport or fuel to get to the shop and also your time. Imagine!
Yet shopping Online allows you to buy items which might be inaccessible in your resident area. Online enterprises like Amazon have a wide range of Second hand and Brand new services and products available perennially: tech devices, machinery, house equipment’s, gardening tools, food, toiletry, clothes you name it!
Another thing with online shopping is that you can buy whatever you want at any time of the day. There is nothing like closing hours or opening hours, anytime is tea time.
Shop Amazon – Newly launched Canon products
All you need to start purchasing stuff online is a PayPal account or a visa debit card and/or credit card then you are good. It’s not a hard process at all.
However you have to be very careful about whom you purchasing stuff from because scams are there too. However I recommend “AMAZON” since I done my shopping there and most importantly its products are high quality and appropriately cheap. So my friends don’t think twice about shopping online.
